The power of speech is a gift from God, and it must be used the way God intends. The tongue has the power to direct, the power to destroy, and the power to delight. Followers of Christ need to choose their words wisely understanding that, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Prov 18:21).
We are engaged in a spiritual war and their can be no retreat. We cannot allow ourselves to be deceived by the false spirits in these last days. As the body of Christ, we must prevail and be victorious. Heaven and hell hang in the balance.
As we consider what Paul wrote, we learn some encouraging things about the church at Colosse which are worthy of our emulation in every Christian congregation, including Lakeview Church.
Though he had not met them personally, he had heard of their faith and love (1:3-8), which prompted him to pray unceasingly for them. By closely studying this passage we can learn not only what Paul desired for the Colossians, but also what God desires for all of His followers today!
Today’s message will declare the preeminence and the supremacy of Jesus Christ. He is God eternal and our eternal Savior.
How we view the events in our lives as they relate to being in God’s will has everything to do with how we live our life. Do we view the happenings in our life as being coincidental or the sovereign hand of God fulfilling His plan and purpose in our life? It deeply matters how you respond to this question.
Today’s message deals with Paul’s pastoral concern for the church at Colosse and Laodicea. His concern expressed in these verses arose from his anxiety about the response of the Colossians Christians to the error being propagated by the falsie teachers. Paul’s heart-felt concern for the churches speaks to us as to our concern and involvement for the body of Christ here at Lakeview and the Church universal.
In today’s message, Paul makes his most direct attack against the “the Colossians heresy.” He shares his concern about believers continuing their walk with Christ. He was somewhat trepidatious that they would be deceived and taken captive by the humanistic philosophy of the day. The wise Christian will not allow any philosophical perspective to lead him or her away from a devoted relationship with Christ. Therefore, Paul instructed them on the sufficiency of Christ in all things.
Through worship, the Word, and prayer you are enlighten and can circumvent being deceived by false teaching. As a follower of Christ you must understand that you have been released and freed from all forms of false doctrine and no one but God is your judge.
Resurrection Sunday is more than a just a celebration. As followers of Christ, Easter has produced the frame work of how we live our lives on a daily bases. It is important how we live because it reflects what we believe, and what we believe is crucial to our Christian witness. One’s life should acknowledge what our heavenly Father has produced and provided for us through His Son, Jesus Christ the Lord. Our lives should attest to the fact that the Holy Spirit is at work in us, and that His work is vital.
In today’s message, Paul speaks forthrightly about the demands of our new life in Jesus Christ, and that we are to repress and defeat all the damaging and degrading tendencies of the old, corrupt nature. There is only one way of true holiness: for the believer to allow the life of Christ to be manifested through them in how they live their lives.
Because of their new lives in Christ, all followers of Christ are to clothe themselves in kingdom virtue. Christ’s peace that passes all understanding should rule their hearts. His Word should dwell in them richly, and they should do everything in and for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
One of the greatest things we can do as individuals is help to build godly Christian homes. Paul addressed the various members of the family: husbands, wives, children, and household servants and pointed out the factors that make for a strong and godly home.

In the final verses of this letter, Paul informs the Colossian congregation about the task he has given those who will deliver his letter. He passes on greetings from several key members of his ministry team, as well as a number of important leaders of the church in Colosse.
